When you’re hungry and need food ASAP, the convenience of takeout can’t be beat.

Luckily, Buffalo has plenty of great restaurants that offer quick, affordable takeout food, many located in close proximity to our apartments in Buffalo and Niagara Falls.

To make it easier for hungry residents and locals, we’ve put together a list of our favorites in each of the neighborhoods of our apartment communities.

Best Takeout Restaurants

Elmwood Village

Saigon Cafe – Located less than 10 minutes from our Delaware Park Apartments and Main Jewett Apartments, Saigon Cafe has become a popular Elmwood Ave. destination for Thai and Vietnamese food. They offer classics such as fried rice, noodle and curry-based dishes, as well as more unique entrées like sizzling duck and their savory Vietnamese pancake, an egg-based crepe stuffed with meats and vegetables. They’re also one of the fastest takeout restaurants in the area, so it’s an ideal spot to pick up food from if you’re crunched for time.

India Gate – India Gate on Elmwood Ave. serves up some of the best Indian food in the area, and they’re great for takeout orders as well. Be sure to try their Tandoori Chicken dinner, which comes with a side of naan and curry. Vegetarians will love their chana masala, spinach with vegetables or one of their many other vegetable-based items and sides. Our Delaware Park Apartments residents are just a 4-minute drive away from great Indian takeout, and those at Main Jewett Apartments and Tudor Gardens Townhouses can still be at the restaurant in under 10 minutes.

North Buffalo

Bob & John’s – Since 1972, Bob and John’s on Hertel Ave. has been a North Buffalo staple for mouth-watering Buffalo-style pizza and wings. Their service is always fast, the food is consistent and they offer one of the best, and most distinctively Buffalo, pizzas in the area: Buffalo chicken pizza, which features their homemade blue cheese sauce and crispy tenders shaken in hot sauce. If pizza’s not your thing, their subs and Italian dinners are a good choice as well. And they’re located just a 5-minute drive from our Delaware Park Apartments, Tudor Gardens Townhouses and Main Jewett Apartments, perfect if you need to grab food in the middle of the game.

Joe’s Deli – The popular sandwich shop, with locations on Hertel Ave., Elmwood Ave. and Maple Rd. in Amherst, offers more than your run-of-the-mill subs. The Joe’s Deli menu features a large variety of sandwiches made with fresh, homemade ingredients and house-cured meats. Their popular Hangover sandwich features hot capicola, a fried egg, sautéed onions, cherry peppers, and melted provolone, while their Cutlet includes a hand-breaded chicken cutlet with provolone, sautéed spinach, mushrooms, onion, and roasted pepper mayo. You can never go wrong with a sandwich from Joe’s Deli for a quick and delicious takeout option, especially since it’s just 3 minutes from our Tudor Gardens Townhouses and only a 6-minute drive from our Delaware Park Apartments and Main Jewett Apartments.

Taj Grill – Taj Grill is a popular Indian restaurant conveniently located on Delaware Ave. for residents of North Buffalo, and particularly for residents of our Delaware Park Apartments, located just a short 2-minute drive down Delaware Ave., and Tudor Gardens Townhouses, just 4 minutes away by car. While their buffet is very popular, they also offer fast, affordable takeout. Diners rave about their butter chicken, naan and curries–all great choices when your stomach is calling for Indian.

Kenmore

Ling Ling – When you’re craving Chinese food, takeout from Ling Ling always hits the spot. Located on Elmwood Ave. in Kenmore, Ling Ling offers popular dishes like Hunan Beef, General Tso’s chicken and wonton soup as well as specialties such as their Seafood Deluxe and boneless duck. Their prices are extremely reasonable, the service is fast and they’re open every day — everything you could want in a takeout restaurant. Even better, our Ralston Elmwood Apartments are a short 4-minute walk down Elmwood, and our Sheridan Manor Apartments and KenDev Studios are just a 2-minute drive away.

Vinny’s NY Pizzeria – Downstate transplants searching for New York-style pizza, look no further. Vinny’s dishes up the classic thin-crust NYC pizza on Delaware Ave. in Kenmore. The restaurant also offers a Sicilian variety and several other specialty red and white pizzas, as well as calzones and strombolis and variety of hot and cold subs if you’re in the mood for something different. Vinny’s is right down the road from our KenDev Studios and just a 5-minute drive from our Ralston Elmwood Apartments.

Dash’s Market – With locations in Kenmore, North Buffalo, East Amherst and Clarence, Dash’s offers more than just groceries–they serve delicious prepared food to-go as well. Their daily soups are highly popular, and they also offer a nice selection of sandwiches and salads, as well as an awesome fish fry on Fridays. Their Kenmore location on Colvin Ave. is located only 3 minutes from our KenDev Studios, 4 minutes from our Ralston Elmwood Apartments and 5 minutes from our Sheridan Manor Apartments and also includes a Spot Coffee if you’re looking for a caffeinated fix.

Tonawanda / North Tonawanda

Mayback’s Deli – Don’t be put off by its modest exterior–locals know Mayback’s Deli, located on Niagara Falls Blvd., is one of the best places to grab takeout in Tonawanda. With a wide menu ranging from subs, breakfast sandwiches and tacos to pizza and fish fries, Mayback’s will be sure to suit all cravings. Residents of our apartments in the City of Tonawanda and Town of Tonawanda are less than a 10-minute drive away, making it a convenient place to grab a quick bite during the week.

Yummy Thai Restaurant – Located in North Tonawanda, this popular Thai restaurant is only a 4-minute walk from our Gateway Park Apartments and a 6-minute drive from our Witmer Road Apartments. Yummy Thai’s menu includes all of the classic Thai dishes, including Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao and Basil Fried Rice, as well as specialties like lobster and soft shell crab. They also have a second location on Kenmore Ave. convenient to residents of our apartments in Kenmore.

Niagara Falls, NY

Frankie’s Donuts & Pizza – The name says it all — and really, what could be better than donuts and pizza? Frankie’s makes some of the most tempting and unique homemade donuts in the area, from lemon iced, coconut cream, and peanut butter and jelly to seasonal flavors like pumpkin and apple crisp. Their food menu also goes beyond pizza to include breakfast sandwiches, chicken fingers, wings, subs and burritos. The best part? Frankie’s is open 24/7 to satisfy all of those late-night and early-morning cravings, so it’s well worth the 14-minute drive from our Niagara Falls Apartments.

Wegmans – Everyone’s favorite grocery store is also a fantastic spot for takeout. Their Military Rd. location is open 24/7 and is a convenient 5-minute drive from our Niagara Apartments. From house-made salads, pastries and sushi to pizzas, Chinese food and huge sub sandwiches, you’ll find anything you’re craving at Wegmans, day or night. If you’re ordering for a big group, you can call ahead to request sub trays, pizzas, wings or whatever else you’d like and pick it up at the store at your convenience.
