May 3, 2016 – We’ve recently noted all of the new development happening in North Buffalo, but there’s a lot to be excited about in the Elmwood Village, Allentown and on the West Side too. Check out our list of the newest businesses and restaurants in the area, what’s coming soon and their distance from our Elmwood apartment communities.
New in Elmwood/Allentown
Pasión Cuban – Just opened in February, Pasión Cuban brings Latin flair to the Elmwood/Allentown area. Located in the former Cozumel and Black Swan space at 153 Elmwood Ave., the upscale Cuban and Latin American restaurant is serving up Cuban favorites like salted codfish fritters, as well as Venezuelan arepas and Peruvian potatoes. And to add to the celebratory feel of the restaurant, they also plan to feature salsa and merengue dances. There’s really nothing like it in the area–and it’s only a short five minute drive from our West Ferry Apartments.
Businesses Opening Soon
BreadHive Cafe – The BreadHive crew, who have been serving up their delicious breads from a window on Baynes St. are gearing up for the opening of their first full-scale bakery and sandwich shop this spring at 402 Connecticut St. The cafe will feature sandwiches, soups and pastry along with their popular bread, bagels, pretzels and granola. We’re looking forward to seeing what types of concoctions and sandwiches they serve up on their crusty, fresh bread. Since it’ll just be a 5 minute drive from our West Ferry Apartments, there’s no excuse not to grab a fresh loaf for dinner as often as possible.
Lloyd’s Taco Factory – Located at 502 Elmwood Ave., Lloyd’s much anticipated second Taco Factory will eventually open and feature a wider menu similar to the location on Hertel Ave., but there’s not a set opening date just yet. The “Coming Soon” signs have been up for a quite a while, though, and hungry tacoheads are looking forward to experiencing some of the unique spins on Mexican-American food Lloyd is already serving up on Hertel. At .6 miles from our West Ferry Apartments, it’s dangerously close enough to make it a regular stop.
