St. Patrick’s Day is this week, and Buffalo’s infamous parade celebrating the holiday is this coming Sunday. So make sure you have a dentist on call before next Monday!

What does a dentist have to do with this Irish-themed holiday, you may ask? Statistically, the Monday after St. Patrick’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for dentists.

It probably won’t surprise you to find out that many people indulge in alcohol on St. Patrick’s Day and during the parade. And sometimes, that overindulgence leads to people tripping, or even getting in a fight that results in an injury to their teeth.

According to CNBC, emergency visits to the dentist in the U.S. increase by 64% following St. Patrick’s Day festivities. In fact, every single state except for Vermont showed an increase in visits over the monthly average in a study.

While we hope you won’t experience any dental emergencies this St. Patrick’s Day, it’s better to be prepared. That’s why we’ve put together a list of the best dentists in Buffalo and Western New York.

We’re all extremely excited for the return of the Buffalo St. Patrick’s Day Parade this weekend — just don’t let your excitement turn into a trip to the dentist next week.
